Online prescription assessment, not automatic approval

You can request an eligible repeat prescription through Doccio for a medicine you already use, subject to a doctor's assessment. The doctor checks whether continued treatment is appropriate and whether enough information is available to prescribe safely. New symptoms, changes in treatment or complex circumstances may need a full consultation or your usual clinician. This is a healthcare service, not a way to purchase a guaranteed prescription. Eligible repeat request: $29. Full consultation: $59 during business hours or $79 after hours.

What this service may cover

  • Review of an established medicine within Doccio's prescribing scope.
  • A request where you can provide the exact medicine, current directions and prescribing history.
  • Discussion of whether continued treatment remains appropriate.
  • Identification of monitoring, records or an examination needed before a decision.
  • Advice about when your usual clinician or a different service should manage the request.

How it works

01

Provide the details

name the medicine, current use, usual prescriber and remaining supply.

02

Complete clinical review

provide relevant records and participate in the consultation required for assessment.

03

Receive the decision

the doctor may prescribe, request more information or recommend another pathway.

04

Arrange dispensing

use the instructions supplied for any issued prescription and confirm pharmacy costs separately.

Information your doctor needs

  • The exact medicine name, strength and current directions.
  • Relevant conditions, allergies, pregnancy possibility and other medicines.
  • Recent monitoring or results where these are part of the treatment plan.
  • Previous prescribing records and any new symptoms or side effects.

Prescribing rules and service limits

A form is not automatic clinical approval

The Medical Board's telehealth guidance warns against prescribing to new patients without an appropriate real-time consultation. An intake questionnaire does not, by itself, establish that prescribing is safe. Be prepared to speak with the doctor and provide records.

Some requests are outside scope

Doccio's standard service does not prescribe Schedule 8 medicines. Other requests may also be unsuitable because they require specialist oversight, monitoring, examination or continuing care that this appointment cannot provide. A full consultation does not override these limits.

Tell the service before booking if you are uncertain about eligibility. Do not submit repeated requests to bypass a decision or use another person's details.

A prescription and pharmacy supply are different

An electronic prescription is a recognised alternative to paper. Where a token is used, it can be provided to a participating pharmacy. The Australian Digital Health Agency explains how electronic prescriptions work.

Your pharmacy assesses dispensing, availability and price. A Doccio fee does not include the medicine or guarantee immediate stock. Use legitimate pharmacy channels; the TGA warns about risks when buying medicines online.

Continuity remains important

If your medicine needs ongoing monitoring, explain the existing plan and who reviews it. A short repeat request should not replace a scheduled review or obscure changes in your health. New symptoms or side effects may require a different appointment.

Fees and choosing the right appointment

An eligible simple repeat request is $29. A full consultation is $59 during business hours or $79 after hours. New treatment discussions and more complex reviews belong in the full consultation pathway, with prescribing still subject to clinical judgement.

The fee is for the assessment, not guaranteed supply. Read the booking terms about declined or redirected requests before payment. See pricing and online doctor consultations.

Review the request safely
