An online pharmacy is a pharmacy that provides some services through a website or app, such as receiving prescriptions, arranging supply or organising delivery. It is separate from an online doctor service. A legitimate pharmacy still has professional and legal obligations, and a prescription is required for prescription-only medicines.
How can I assess whether a website is legitimate?
Look for a genuine Australian business identity, physical contact details and a way to speak with a pharmacist. Be cautious if a site offers prescription-only products without a prescription, makes unrealistic claims or hides who is responsible for supply. A professional-looking website alone is not proof of legitimacy.
Australian regulatory protections may not apply in the same way to overseas sellers. Product appearance, reviews or a low price cannot establish that a medicine is genuine or suitable. Ask a pharmacist if you are unsure about a proposed source.

What should I check before ordering?
Confirm the prescription process, stock availability, total cost, delivery area and timing. Ask how temperature-sensitive or otherwise restricted products are handled. A payment confirmation is not necessarily confirmation that a pharmacist has approved supply or that the order has been dispatched.
Keep prescription tokens and personal information private. Use the pharmacy's verified channel and avoid posting screenshots publicly. If a token has already been used elsewhere, tell the pharmacy rather than attempting a duplicate order.
What if I need treatment urgently?
Delivery may not suit an urgent need. Ask about local collection or another appropriate option before relying on a courier estimate. A worsening illness requires clinical care, not simply a faster order.
Doccio's prescription service concerns medical assessment and prescribing when appropriate. Dispensing, stock, delivery fees and pharmacy advice are separate. A doctor decides what is appropriate, and the pharmacist independently checks whether the medicine can be supplied safely and lawfully.
Where to go next
Read prescription consultations to understand the relevant service. A doctor decides whether a consultation, examination, referral or another pathway is appropriate for your situation.
